Unlike any book I have ever read. Wonderful!

This is one of the best books I have ever read for several reasons. It is a selection of short tales written by a doctor serving the people in the Adirondack mountains of New York State. He describes the many patients (with their permission) he cares for that covers many ages and income levels. Some of the stories may be one page or several. He is also a fantastic photographer and many of his stories are accompanied by photos of the person or the scenery by their home (yes, he makes house calls). I could not possibly explain this book and do it justice. There are stories that will amaze, make you laugh or cry but never bore you. It was a Christmas present that was featured in the Syracuse, NY newspaper as a gift selection. I liked the way it fit my very busy life. I could spend 15 minutes reading two or three "pieces" and maybe not get back to it for days or even weeks. Unlike a typical novel (say, a complicated murder mystery) where I could forget the details like the characters and who did what.
