I have this dress in both the pink and blue. One of them will make an appearance in my cousin's casual wedding as I proudly stand on the groom's side! (We love the bride, too - her sons are standing up for her and we have a pallet of colors to choose from. I'll probably take them both and see what the bride thinks when she sees them in person.) At any rate, these dresses have a nice thick-ish (yet summer weight) fabric that is like a jersey stretch situation. They flow beautifully and are nice and cool. You probably need a nice smooth slip or something under it. I'm 5'4" and it's down to my ankles. I'm going to have them both hemmed, but honestly, I could wear them this way. The quality is nice, the flow, the weight, the colors, it's flattering and feels pretty cool. I sized up, but I probably should have stayed with my regular size. There's plenty of room!
