Might be out on Lone Peak

The uppers are falling apart after 73 miles. Ever since Altra was bought out and cares more about how shoes look than how they fit and last, its been downhill. Probably my last pair of Altras.

Narrower than Superior 5

I have the Superior 5 in 13 and just ordered the Lone Peak 7 in size 13 in Taupe because I really like the color way. I was unpleasantly surprised to see the LP7 is SIGNIFICANTLY narrower than the Superior 5. I overlayed the inserts and the LP7 is over 1/4 of an inch narrower than the Superior 5. That is a lot. Also frustrating that I can't find the Taupe in 13 wide anywhere. Two questions: 1) do you carry that color in 13 wide and 2) is it bigger in volume too, i.e. will I be swimming in it?

Ok, but not as good as previous versions

I have been using Lone Peaks since the LP3 and have loved them for their comfort and durability. I used them for general daily use, gym workouts, and hiking/backpacking. Definitely my favorite shoe for all activities. The LP7 will be my last version of them unless they go back to previous designs. The padded tongue and heel cup are just so unnecessary. Make the shoe feel too cumbersome and bulky. As well, the stiffened heel makes the shoe a lot less versatile, since I can no longer use them as "slippers" by just stepping onto the heel and folding it down for a quick heading out in the middle of the night when backpacking. I also use them like this for work regularly when I am inspecting carpet, so Ian not walking on it with dirty shoes. It's a pain to have to untie them to step into them repeatedly throughout the day when I used to be able to just kick them off and then step into them whenever I needed to walk out on the factory floor. I can't comment on the longevity as I have only had them a couple of weeks and have not been out hoking in them yet. I expect they will be much soggier than previously, since the padding will most likely hold more water than earlier models. I wanted to give them a decent chance to get a feel for them, but I am still thinking about returning them at this point. Really hoping next version goes back to older design. Update: I decided to keep them, but I am still not as happy with them as the 3, 4, 5 or 6. The extra padding seems to make them harder to get a snug fit, so they tend to slide around my foot more. This was an issue on the previous models as well, if I did not tie the laces tight enough to lock my heel in. On the 7s, it just never feels as form fitting. The padding keeps the shoe from pulling up as snug around my heel, so even when pulled quite tight, I still have a lot of float in the shoe. They are comfortable to walk around in, but they do not feel stable when I am on a trail hiking in them, because my foot slips around in the shoe on sections that are not flat.
