Pilly sheets

I bought these sheets for my elderly mother in law. They did fit and have held up thru numerous washes but they got pilly rightoff. I've never in my life had good cotton sheets do that, so I was very disappointed. If my MIL had sensitivity issues we would have had to replace them. She does not complain that they are uncomfortable but they would drive me crazy! Also if she was more sedentary, they wouldn't work either since they are a bit rough.
