The Gathering of Saffron Brand Saffron, Pure Spanish, 1 Ounce

I used to buy The Gathering of Saffron brand saffron 25 years ago when I was an executive chef. Back then I paid more than $60 per ounce. Now it's available for about half the price -- and it's the real deal. Pure threads, so fragrant and heady that my kitchen cabinet is thick with aroma, even though the saffron is contained in both a plastic bag and a metal tin. Last night I made saffron rice. The color was perfect, a deep golden yellow with hints of orange -- and so flavorful that I had seconds -- and thirds. Great product. Highly recommended.

Very happy with this Pure Spanish One Ounce Saffron. The stigmas or threads are longer than any other I have seen before, and they are also very soft as if just picked from the flower. The deep yellow tone in the paella is most appetizing, not to mention the wonderful scent, which you can smell even before opening the metallic box. I like that the threads are tightly bagged to help preserve the freshness.
