Good History of a Little Known Subject

(Disclaimer: I am related to one of the authors of this book, and assisted in some of the research for the book.) As someone who is only a casual sports fan, I would normally have dismissed a book on a long-abandoned stadium as only of marginal interest to me. But the fact is that League Park: Historic Home of Cleveland Baseball, 1891-1946 details a fascinating history that even a non-sports fanatic can enjoy. Whether it is in the description of the achievements there of some of baseball's greatest players (Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Cy Young, and a host of others),the detailed descriptions of the stadium over the years, or the many and varied photographs showing the field, athletes, and fans, there really is a lot to appreciate in this book. At the same time, it recounts such a thorough history of the earlier years of baseball in Cleveland that it will no doubt serve as a primary reference source for many years to come.
