So premium robot manufacturers do annual iterations to their flagship products, so if you buy the previous year's you'll get the best price point. Same thing applies with Samsung soundbars. So at the time of this writing, it makes a lot of sense at this price point. What separates this robot from budget robots is the following: the new ledge stepping tech, much higher pascals of suctions, and the roller keeps getting redesigned to tangle with less pet hair. So if you have pets its great. Oh, and and it has the premium lidar (retractable too!) to run into obstacles less than non-lidar robots. The dust bin is also bigger and the filter is also huge. And the mop pads can be left at the station during vacuuming. Downsides versus the newer model? Well, not a whole lot, just less suction (current max suction is overkill), and no fancy robot arms yet. But it's good enough for me! Oh and the water tank is a little smaller than in the past, but you get a notification when it's low anyway. No issues so far. I do see another comment about dust in the o-ring. That is true, you have to be on top of it.
