Beautiful retelling of an ancient story.

Madeline Miller is a gifted author who brings characters to life and gives them a voice beyond the original mythology. We all know the story of The Iliad. We know Achilles was a demigod. We he was deadly, beautiful, and unforgiving when his honor was threatened. This book tells the story of Achilles from the viewpoint of the man who loved him most. Patroclus sees his flaws and loves him, anyway. I've read multiple translations of the original story. I've seen every movie on the subject I could find and read other interpretations. I've always found Achilles fascinating. Never have I been so moved as I was reading this book. Read it. It will break your heart, but read it, anyway.
