Thru-hull transducer

I bought this product 2 months ago. I have installed it and it works beautifully. Prior to this I was not able to get a depth reading when going faster than 10 mph with my transom mounted transducer. I installed this XP 9 20 according to the instructions and connected it using a Y splitter cable to my transom transducer and then into to the unit. Now I have both depth reading at full acceleration and down imaging while going slow. I did use the transducer in a bag of water method (described in instructions) to find the best place to mount this and Im glad I did as it would not have worked where I first assumed would be a good place.

Great Insurance Policy

Works perfect, easy to install. I bought a used Skeeter that someone had set up with a Helix 9" and 12". They mounted the external transducer and clipped the cable on the factory installed through hull transducer as he thought it wasn't needed. I've been running around on an unfamiliar lake relying on my Lake Master mapping, which proved to be pretty accurate, however it has given me a lot more confidence knowing what the actual depth is while running. Seems to work well at speeds up to 40 mph.

Hummingbird Helix 9 Fish Finder

The Hummingbird Helix 9 is absolutely the best unit available. Easy to set up and operate. Great visuals, too. However, I was not told you need 2 transducers and a Y cable to get full utility. You need an outside the boat, in the water for the Down Scan and Side Scan to work. Unfortunately, you cannot get high speed ( over 10 mph) depth readings while the boat is moving. Nobody told me that. So I called Hummingbird Tech Support and they told me I needed a High-Speed Transducer mounted in the boat to get depth readings while cruising down the lake. Everything works now but it was a hassle getting there. Love the unit!! Highly recommend it.
