bristles too long and too soft

I bought the wrong item and it doesn't fit my sweeper. However, even if it did fit, this roller's bristles are too long and soft to pick up hair and dirt for any sweeper or vacuum. This brush feels like it isn't tough enough to withstand any cleaning of floors or carpet for any amount of time.
