Nice Rod/Instructions Vague

The is a very nice, matte black curtain rod. You receive three rods. The main rod, which has all the little holes to adjust in it, and two extension rods. I long extension rod and a short extension rod. You also receive a 4" or so piece that screws on the end of the rod so you can adjust the tension of the rod when it is in place, and then the two little end pieces that you just pop on to the ends. I took all the pieces out and looked for directions. I didn't see any until I got a flashlight out and looked into the long box it came in. There was a one sheet piece of paper stuck to the inside of the box. Had to cut apart the box to get it out. I read the instructions, which only had 4 steps, and thought easy. Following the instructions I inserted the main rod with the little buttons into the extension rod, screwed on the 4" adjuster piece and added the ends. Went into my bathroom to put it up and it was too long! I messed around with it for a while until I finally figured it out. My bathtub is only 59" long and I did not need either extension piece. I wish the instructions would have said to insert it into another rod ONLY IF YOU NEED TO. I took off the extension piece and using only the main rod that has the little holes in it, it was still too long. I finally realized that the push button knob at the end pushes in the little silver piece that goes in the holes and once that was pushed in, I could push the rod in to make it even shorter. Once I got that all measured out, I placed it where I wanted it and then tightened the little 4" piece at the end and it tightened up and secured it in place. If I had known I didn't need the two extensions, and if I knew that I could adjust the main rod, it would have taken me 5 minutes to install. Once it was installed it looked nice but when I went to put my shower curtain on it, the curtain hooks were too small. I needed new ones anyway..... I hope this helps others.
