Well made and great quality material, highly recommended!

They had us at 100 percent cotton. (We instantly click away from anything that’s microfiber-junk bedding.) We decided to try this mattress pad because it was described and depicted as a pretty thick, dense mat that we thought may bridge the valley of one’s sleeping spot. It turns out that it’s very nice, just not as thick as we expected. Let’s look it over. To start, we wanted to warn you to be careful opening the mailer. That’s just wrapping around the pad’s fabric packaging, so don’t cut too deeply. Once it’s opened, we were surprised to see that the pad comes packed in a cute fabric tote bag. That’s different. We don’t know why you need a bag for something that’s going to live on the bed. Guess we’ll find some use for the bonus bag. Moving on to unfolding the pad, our first impression was that it was pretty flat. Dense quilting, yes, but flatter than the lofty clouds of overfilled fluff that we were expecting. A run through the wash and dry per instructions did improve the loft a bit. You can feel that there’s fiberfill in there, and it looks somewhat fluffier. But it’s still flat. The mattress pad is described as 450 gsm. What? We learned that that means grams per square meter, or the density of the filling. 450 is considered medium-to-heavyweight, or quilting that’s dense enough to be warm. This pad is described as overfilled, which to us sounds like a fluffy comforter, but its thin denseness reminds us more of a grandma quilt. Just keep your expectations in check that a mattress pad is not a pillow top cushion. Their image of it cutaway against the flat mattress does make it appear a lot thicker than it is. Honestly, we think it looks more like the Standard Pad in their half-n-half image comparing standard to overfilled. Don’t get us wrong. We like the pad for what it is and what it adds to the bed. We’re simply describing our impression of the thickness. As far as fit, the mattress pad is true to size. It didn’t shrink in the wash. (The description should specify Pre-Shrunk Cotton.) The stretchy mesh sides are deep enough for a pillow top mattress. When asked for comment on comfort for the review, the user said, “It’s nice and soft. I don’t feel the indention in the mattress as much.” So there’s that. We wouldn’t call it thick enough to fill sleeping indentions, but that’s their feeling. All in all, this mattress pad is a winner. Because it’s not as thick as the wording and images suggest, we’ll give it a 4 because of all its other good points. It is 100 percent cotton. It does fit properly. The construction quality is good. It does wash easily. It looks really nice and adds a fresh surface layer to the bed to cover up all the pilling of the mattress fabric. It has been judged soft and comfortable by the person sleeping on it. And finally, something made in the USA! We would look at other Continental Bedding products in the future.
