2005 Buffalo Collection

One Nickel and one Quarter are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition; one of each is colorized, one of each is enhanced with holograms, and one of each is plated in 24-karat gold; no specific mint marks are promised. Both the 2005 Buffalo Nickel and 2005 Kansas State Quarter feature a buffalo. The 2005 Buffalo Nickel was a limited-edition coin that was part of the first commemorative Nickel series in history. It honored the 200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis & Clark Expedition. It features a buffalo to symbolize both the American West that the wildlife the Lewis & Clark Expedition encountered on its historic journey. This was the first Buffalo Nickel since the last classic Buffalo Nickel in 1938. The obverse was the first new portrait of Thomas Jefferson since the Jefferson series started in 1938. The portrait was based on the same bust of Jefferson that was used for the original 1938-2004 Nickels. The word “Liberty” next to Jefferson’s portrait is in Jefferson’s handwriting. The 2005 Kansas State Quarter shows a buffalo, which is the official state animal. This coin was a limited edition of only about 10 weeks in 2005. One Brilliant Uncirculated example of each coin is included in the collection. There are also three enhanced versions of each coin that bring the designs to life. The enhancements are a permanent part of the coin design, so they will not fade or peel off. The colorized coins show the designs in full life-like colors; the holograms add a new dimension of beauty; they highlight the major design elements; the gold-plated coins are plated in pure 24-karat gold.
