It did not resemble the picture on the can with the chunk of meat and mushroom slices. It was mainly broth with tiny, unidentifiable pieces in it. Very disappointed.

I think it is fair to say this soup is not the unmitigated disaster so many people want to say it is. No, it is not the same as quality restaurant fare, but then, packaged soups rarely are. So, what can be said: the soup is not thick and rich as restaurant variety tend to be. It is more like a broth which has a mild but not indistinct hot and sour quality about it. It is not heavy on pieces of meat and vegetables (including mushrooms) but there are small chopped pieces in the soup that do enhance its flavor and character. I would not recommend this as a meal in itself, but rather as a small opening to a more significant dish (in my case, I made a respectable Szechuan chicken with vegetables over jasmine rice). That said, yes I will eat it again just as i described it being done here. I also would not pay a small fortune for a can (as some suppliers apparently want you to do), In short it is a nice product and perhaps could be improved by giving it a lbit more body and a few more additives (pieces or meat and vegetables).
