In my book, there is no other. The (oil based) Poly, is the only thing that works as you want it to. Now with that said, you may be spending a littleore time, and money. But trust me it's worth it. the other products, ( mostly mixed) like Poly Stain, Poly acrylics, etc. They do not have the capability of Melding, multiple layers to become one, beautiful, GLASS-LIKE, layer. I do a lot of woodworking, mostly Walkingsticks, now. And the LOOK, CLARITY, and PROTECTION, can not be duplicated. P.S. I would RECOMMEND, the product in a can, and apply each layer by hand with brush. but for quicker applications, the spray can, WILL DELIVER. P.S.S. POLYURETHANE is NOT a One Coat and quit, product. You ALWAYS need to apply, dry, apply, dry, apply, dry. ALWAYS!
