These are great and should be called Canisters.

I consider these canisters because the lids don”t twist on. They are convenient for storing my different type of flours, sugars, tea bags and even baked cookies. The lids are of good weight and the sealing gaskets are easily removed for proper cleaning. The square shaped bottoms are great for saving space in my pantry as they set side-by-side perfectly. The fact that they are glass means that little pests can't chew through them like they can do with plastic. Problems are: 1. Walmart seems to have a problem keeping them stocked. 2. I can't find replacement sealing gaskets for the lids to keep on hand. 3. The stackable wood replacement lids are really outrageously priced.

Absolutely love Ball !!! Don't know about the seal yet. I really miss the lock metal seal for fermentation. I don't think you will be able to use these for that. Love storing baking soda. Flour and sugar in them instead of plastic. And love that they are square!!!! In the smaller ones I store a variety of nuts on the counter. So completely sealed so when my nephew comes over. He is allergic to certain ones!! But can eat almonds. So no cross contamination!!!
