These are hard plastic and work perfectly for our dogs who would unbuckle their seatbelts when stepping on the button, we added these and they are secure and no way they will come undone by accident when the dogs are going back and forth in the back seat. I would recommend these for anyone who has kids or animals they keep buckled in, we def do not have to worry about the babies not being secured if anything ever happens
