How to First Use Your BeauGen Cushions

It’s completely normal to experience a learning curve when you first start using these cushions; don’t worry! Moms have been a part of creating, testing, and redesigning BeauGen Breast Pump Cushions since the beginning.

How to Use

Step 1: Open Cushion to Cone Shape and Stretch

Prior to first use, open each cushion to their cone shape and give it a good stretch. The cushions are sent to you folded or rolled.

Step 2: Insert Cushion into Flange Tunnel

Use thumb to guide cushion into flange. To help slide in smoothly, a little lubricant like coconut oil may be used on the inside of the flange.

Step 3: Smooth Out Creases Along the Cone

The neck of the cushion may not touch the inside of the flange tunnel, that is normal! Cushions are meant to move with your skin, keeping you from rubbing against the hard plastic of the flanges.

Step 4: Place Flange with Cushion Insert

Place flange with cushion insert centered on your breast, and begin pumping as usual.

Cushion Care Tips

- Replace cushions every 2-8 weeks, based on length and frequency of use and care.
- Hand wash cushions with mild soap and warm water.
- Open washed cushions to high temperatures to prevent tearing. Do not sterilize.
- Do not use cushions as nipple shields for nursing directly.

Experiencing Decreased Milk Output?

If you notice your milk output has decreased since using the cushions, consider increasing the suction on your breast pump. Another reason for decreased output is incorrect flange size, specifically a flange that is too small.

Cushions Are (or Aren't!) Sticking to Flange?

If the tackiness of the cushion keeps it from sliding smoothly into the flange, simply rub a little lubricant (such as coconut oil) onto the inside of the flange before inserting the cushion.

Cushions are designed to be a thin layer between you and the hard flange. Its thinness allows the material to be the right amount of softness, stretchiness, and flexibility to give you the maximum comfort and fit.
