Rugged. GREAT refill improvement.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of the best chalk reels I've worked with. - Best feature - easy to refill through twist-open cap. - Twist-open cap also makes it easy to untangle twine (which inevitably happens every once in a while). - Line carries chalk well. - Only con: the standard string is a little light ... hasn't failed, but just feel like need to be a little careful with it to keep it from snapping. It feels like it wants to snag on the feed guide sometimes. - OTOH: the feed guide is 'floating' -- so it adapts to the line a little better. - Red chalk works well.

Great if you're a framer

This definitely a heavy duty throw some chalk down reel. We do more small scale projects that require a lot less chalk, but I could see if you were striking a line for framing or for the sub-floors as you were building a house it would be the deal. The price is right.

This chalk line kit will quickly be the best on the shelf in the hardware store / DIY center arena for sure. Packed with awesome features like a 6:1 gear ratio, wide mouth filling neck, and premium chalk / line, this is an extremely nice chalk line for the price point. While there are more premium lines to be had, they are over 2X the cost. This kit is a great alternative to that range for sure. The only issue I have is the overall size. What you trade in capacity and ease of filling is made up for in bulk. It can be a little big for some frequent users. Overall, great buy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
