This salsa is seriously so good. It honestly tastes like the kind you get at a restaurant, not something from a jar. The medium is my favorite—it has just the right amount of heat without being too much, and the flavor is really good. I end up going through a jar way too fast every time I buy it. Definitely a go-to!

One of the rating topics was "heat" which is kind of weird because I'm reviewing their "medium" salsa. Perhaps they're asking if I think it lines up well with the "medium" range. It does. I'm usually hot salsa sort of person, but I look after my elderly father and he prefers mild salsa so medium is our compromise. Mateo's has good flavor. This is probably going to sound like a strange thing, but I originally took to it because it reminded me of the salsa from a restaurant that's no longer in business called "Tia's". It's got a good consistency. There are no big pieces of onion or pepper disrupting the texture. It's still nice and thick, but it's been blended down to that it doesn't look like a salad in tomato water like Pace or On the Border salsas do.
