Haunting you will never look at life the same

Ok, so lets start here I totally watched the old 74 Gatsby for school in addition to reading the book. I remember being a much younger person logically but ale to connect to the tortured characters and making the conscious decision to not be like daisy. fast forward to 2013 one week after I watch iron Man I go see the great gatsby. I am instantly thrown back to a time I recognize as past but music from jay z Andre 3000 etc which tells me I'm still in 2013. In the theaters this film kept up with the beginning of summer blockbusters for a reason. First impressions are the Actors Leonardo made you feel every pain and ache it was almost uncomfortable to watch him at times one of the most haunting scenes for me is when he finally has daisy in his arms and they are lying on his bed and he is obsessed as to the fog obscuring the green light. The prose is magic . Leonardo definitely has grown into gatsby he does a excellent job with not only being that elusive larger than life figure he brings it home with the vulnerability when he has to. Next noteworthy was Toby I've seen reviews where people are saying how monotone Spider-Man like this character was but it worked nick caraway at best was a voyeur he lived through other people's experiences and had not many of his own until that fateful summer. It's interesting at the beginning you almost feel a connection between nick and gatsby stronger than that of daisy could be that Toby and Leonardo are friends in real life but who kmew. The rest of the characters are memorable even will sheim. The man you love to hate in this one us definitely Tom he is excellent in this role and does a great job of making you want to choke him. Evil to the core selfish and in search of the carnal with no regard for others other than his attempt at silencing his mistress during dinner and abusing her for saying his wife's name. This movie worked for me everyone became a deadly sin portrayed it lived it was it. The music worked the over the top worked all these characters were flawed and I think we see that much more in the remake. I think the subtleties made the film the green light the shirt scene those annoying phone calls from the associates. What you will take home from the film whether or not you had any experience with the book or other films is its a well acted dysfunctional love story involving married people. It's a tale of all times in the culture the haves and the haves not and how careless we can be to one another when we think no one will know or is looking. But remember the eyes of God or as my English teacher once said T.j. Eckleburg are watching rent buy or view this movie and enjoy and don't sayi didn't warn it when you want to watch it again.....
