Latch problems

My baby was having latch problems from birth, she wouldn't open wide enough to get a deep latch. The hospital provided me with at 20mm and I used that for 3 weeks and it worked great but now I am going to try and ween her off the shield all together so I bought this 16mm and it works great too. I would say if you are having latch problems or have flat/inverted nipples you should buy one or two of these. They are 100% worth it. Do not give up on breastfeeding! It's hard mentally and physically especially when baby has latch problems and is hurting your nipples but breastfeeding is so worth it! If you're having problems buy a shield and have a Lactation consultant teach you how to use it :)

Great transition method! Life saver for my Newborn

I bought this product to help transition from the shield to the breast. I was using the 24 mm medium size. The typical size purchased at the stores. It was doing its job but the size was making it difficult for my NB to latch onto me naturally without the use of the shield. The 16mm extra small size got her to transition faster. The extra small is more realistic for women with flat or inverted nipples. Its much smaller allowing the baby a more successful transition from the shield to a non typical breast (flat or inverted nipples) The larger sizes are too much like a bottle nipple and NB babies develop a lazy latch. I am so glad I ordered the extra small!!!!

After only 2 days of breast feeding, I had cracked and very painful nipples. They were bleeding. I went to see a lactation specialist who recommended this product. I have been using it since around the clock during my breast feeding. It still hurts sometimes when my baby initially latches on, but my nipples have healed and there are no more sign of redness or irritation.
