When considering a cantilever system, the weight and gate materials become the most crucial parameters to consider. The gate itself must be rigid and self-supporting to prevent sagging. It is recommended a steel frame with diagonal reinforcements. A good practice is to divide the gate in sections where each section is a square with diagonal members like cross braces and corner braces. Cross braces and corner braces are necessary in the "tail" portion of the gate as well. The frame should be at least a 3" x 3". That way it will be the same width as the track and will look better.
