I deducted 1 star for several factors. First, the lighting uses the only available USB-A port and its remote is the same one used by most LED strips used in furniture these days. Which means, unintentionally turning on/off other strips within the same room. Second, the entire surface of the parts were coated with some kind of powder, whether dust or some kind of packing substance I don't know but every part required wiping off in the assembly process. Third, the metal isn't very thick and noticeably dimpled when tightening the bolts during assembly. As it's constructed of box steel parts this shouldn't be a problem but is worrisome. And finally, there are several blemishes in the paint/powder coating and some of them show bare metal. These issues aside, assembly is fairly quick and easily done in half an hour or so by one person. The most difficult part is lining up the lower board so that it is level on both ends. It takes very little to align it, just loosen a couple of bolts, realign and tighten the bolts. I was worried at the design of the slats until I noticed they are notched to lock them in place, a major benefit over the design of the frame this is replacing. The gap between the bottom of the lower board and a 10" mattress is only about 4 inches which looks nice. Anything larger would have been a non starter for my situation. All in, the bed frame and headboard is an attractive addition to the bedroom adding a quiet bit of class to the room. It arrived in a single box and though the manual details the assembly process nicely, anyone even slightly mechanically inclined should have no trouble assembling this bed frame. The foam on the central support should help keep squeaks to a minimum and is a nice feature usually only found on much more expensive bed frames.
