67 Layers of Damascus Steel The core of the knife is made of special steel "VG10" and 33 layers of steel on the left and right sides. VG10 is a high-carbon stainless steel made by adding elements such as C (carbon), Cr (chromium), Mo (molybdenum), V (vanadium), and Co (cobalt) to strictly selected high-purity raw materials (Virgin Steel). It contains about 1% carbon, 1.0% molybdenum and 1.5% cobalt. It can reach a hardness of HRc60-62 after heat treatment. VG-10 has excellent processability, strong toughness and corrosion resistance, and is mostly used in high-quality Japanese-made knives. The higher the carbon content, the sharper it is. After vacuum heat treatment, the hardness (HRC) of Damascus steel can reach 60±2, while maintaining strong machinability, toughness and corrosion resistance, making it sharper and more durable.
