I replaced my 20 yr old MK riptide with autopilot with this PD 55 with I-pilot and BT. I mounted it on my 16.5' CC. Mounting holes from old motor matched up, nice ! I have 2 12v 105ah deep cycle batts to power it with. First trip out, after about 6 hrs or so of trolling for Stripers, I noticed that I had used about 65% of my battery power. Thought, that is not good, my old MK was a 42lb 24v and I was thinking that maybe I should of gotten a 24v instead of a 12v, since I could troll 10 or more hrs with the old motor. Second trip, I trolled for Stripers again and batts still had %40 after 10 hrs. Next trip I trolled for Walleye for almost 12 hrs and only used %55 of my batt power. Apparently it takes a few trips for the motor to get broke in, nothing in instructions about this. Every trip now, it has been getting better. Most recent trip, after trolling for around 6 hrs, had to start dealing with a 15mph + head wind. Had to run at a higher setting to keep up my preferred trolling speed. Not only did the MK hold its course with no probs, after 2 hrs of dealing with the headwinds and previous 6 hrs. I still had %50 of batts left. The I-pilot navigational features are very easy to use and do hold course, even in heavy headwinds. The BT feature is nice, just download the phone app and you can upgrade software to your phone, then to motor and control motor if your remote batts get low. I am very impressed. Sportsmans membership price was the best I found and the 4 pay is awesome. Only one complaint, I payed xtra for 2 day shipping. Did not get unit until 4 days after purchase. I called Customer Service and voiced my concern, told them I needed unit for upcoming trip. As always CS was very courteous and assured me it would arrive before my trip and it did arrive the day before I left.
