We have large horses and so the 6 gallon buckets are a must for us. They provide more head room, especially when suspended from the Fortiflex bucket holder which tips the handle back and out of the way -- no more trapping a horse's face in the handle. The buckets are easy to clean and assure us that after several hours in their stalls, our horses will always have enough water to drink. Another point - when filling the bucket, a true FIVE gallons of water will be assured. The six gallon bucket gives that extra room. (You can't fill a 5 gallon bucket all the way to the top.) We love the construction of these buckets and stow them on our horse trailer AND in our tack room for times when we need to have extras on hand. I will never go back to a 5-gallon bucket.
