BOTTOM LINE: This box is really intriguing to me, because it has such a low price point and yet appears to be made meticulously. I would definitely be happy to have 10 more of them. It's a lovely product and I absolutely recommend it. APPEARANCE, WOOD: The wood seems real to me though I'm not an expert; however there are the beautiful scars of wood as well as the rich ring patterning in different parts that lead me to believe it is natural wood. If it's not, it is an outstanding faux version of it! What threw me a bit on the material was that it is a lightweight box, but that's not a bad thing at all. That makes it easy to transport! APPEARANCE, METAL: The seemingly hammered-metal with the pattern imprinted upon it is simply amazing. The brackets or brads--I'm not too familiar with the terminology--are great. All the metalwork is simply fantastic, jaw-dropping at this price. The metal latch that opens and closes has a satisfying 'snap' to it and feels very secure. STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS: There is a good amount of storage in this box. I would recommend this box for storing small to medium objects that don't break easily, unless you intend to line it with velvet or the like. It would be wonderful for storing photos, paperwork, old maps (if you use it decoratively, that would be amazing!!!), marbles, a rock collection, candy, colored pencils, etc. You get the idea!!!!
