Great hand winch,

Actually when I ordered the winch, some how I missed the auto brake feature, It is great, for the application I have it on, and is safer and easer than one with the ratchet feature, as there is a load on it when raising and lowering the item, I do no think the load can get away from one, (the only draw back is on a unloaded cable you can not pull the cable and have it free wheel and unroll. The handle must be cranked, and cable pulled at the same time to unroll the cable, this is not a problem in my application.

For lifting and lowering

Winch does not free spool! If your looking to easily pull out line this is not the winch for you. However if you want to safely lower a load it is defiantly the winch for you. No more Broken Arms or wrists. You must literally pull loose line out. Very Safe we love these on our boat docks for standoff's, small boat lift ect. Where we have to raise and lower a load.

Best of this type, #1 by a long shot.

this type of hand winch raise's and lowers with ease. No free spinning handle to break your arm, no clickers to engage or break just crank up or crank down and it stops when you stop. I really don't understand how it works, but it works great. We use them here on the little red river for small boat lifts.
