I was disappointed to open the box and find that there was already a fair amount of damage and splintering on many of the pieces. The dowel housing was crushed as well. It also has a strange chemical smell to it, but since I'm putting in my back yard, it will likely air out and be fine. This is not a high-end piece. The materials that it is made with are incredibly cheap and the wood actually splinters quite easily if you over-tighten the screws. It does suggest wearing gloves, and you might want to, because the table top metal edge is raw and sharp. In the back in particular. I will admit that overall it was very easy to assemble. The instructions were relatively clear, except the assembly of the upper shelving. , I can see how that would be confusing to a lot of people. They probably should've broken that particular instruction into two or three parts to make it clearer. The step where you attach the upper shelving to the metal top didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. The holes were slightly off and it made getting the screws in difficult. I made the decision to keep this because I need it for an outdoor party, I like the overall asthetic of it in spite of all of damage it came with, and I don't have time to return it and wait for a replacement. It is very true what they say… you get what you pay for. I don't know how long this will last… and I don't know that I can honestly recommend it to anybody in good conscience. It might be worth spending a little bit more for a little better quality.
