What's an Olla?

. . . a highly efficient clay irrigation pot for your garden!

Our Ollas are Terracotta clay pots that have been fired at low temperatures, allowing them to remain porous. When filled with water, they SLOWLY seep water out through the walls of the pot.

Strong root systems are encouraged, as the roots of plants grow toward the Olla, and eventually create suction to pull water through the Olla's walls as needed, creating almost water efficiency.

They are simple, efficient, durable and they WORK!

How to use an Olla

1. Bury your Olla in the center of a 36" circle*

* the size of your circle can vary from about 30" to 48" . . . depending on the plants you intend to grow.

In general, the more drought tolerant a plant, the stronger and farther it's root will typically go to find water . . . and the further you can plant it from your Olla.

2. Plant seeds or seedlings within the circle

Most vegetables, flowers and even trees greatly appreciate the consistent water support of Ollas.

3. Fill with water & watch your garden grow!*

* continue overhead watering until your plants' roots find the Olla (a few weeks) . . . after that, just fill the Olla!
