The 12" Guillotine paper trimmer works as advertised. It cuts 10 pages of regular copy paper easily. The blade is very sharp but there is a plastic blade guard as well as a safety lock. It also comes with gloves to protect your hands while using it. If you're getting it to gift to someone it does ship in the actual product box. They just slap a label on it and send it. I got it as a gift for myself and I was very upset when I saw it before I gave it to me. As for the cons: It doesn't come with any instructions even though there's a sticker on it that says to, "Read instructions carefully before installing handle. " There is a little tag with Chinese writing but it's just the product certificate. It includes a set of screws with nuts and a tool that has a Phillips head on one end and an Allen wrench on the other. You will need the Phillips head. Remove the screw that's above the "read directions" sticker. There's an 'L' shaped slot on the handle that fits over the end of the blade. Put the nuts in the hexagon shaped holes in the outside of the handle and then attach the screws from the inside. After the handle is attached there's a little rectangular knob that sticks out on the left side of the sticker. You can pull the handle out and over it and it will lock it into place.
