While the ottoman looks great, it is very hard. For me, that makes it unsuitable to use as a footstool - very uncomfortable for propping your feet. However, if you are planning to use it as a "side table" it would be perfect. For the particular piece I received, the shipping box was torn in multiple places. When I opened the item there were several places where the stitching was separating. I could probably have hot glued it back without any problem. Since I needed a footstool, I returned the item. Walmart was great in facilitating the return. Honestly, too bad all around - I loved the way this looked.
