I was actually very surprised because my acts love this. I set it in the middle of the living room. It is big enough for my cats. I had no trouble lifting it and I could carry one of my cats at a time. It didn't really hurt my shoulder. Totally awesome carrier and the expansion helped so much. I don't have a dog but I believe this would work for a dog too. No need for a leash because I have cats of course.
