Amazing Technology

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Galaxy XR is a game changer. It'll take a few minutes to learn how to navigate the system with your hands and fingers. But once you learn it, it'll be second nature and you'll be fine. A cool feature is wherever you place a "window" it stays put even if you walk around away from the immediate area. When you return back to the area you came from the window is still in the exact same location. The camera pass through is great to walk or see what is around you in the real world without having to take off the headset. While I wish it was more clear and higher resolution pass through, I appreciate the functionality that it provides. I did opt to but the controllers which is required for some applications. While I don't have an issue using my hands and fingers, I prefer to use a controller. Lastly, because it's running Android and Samsung UI, everything feels familiar, and not foreign where I would have to learn yet another OS. Overall, for those that can afford to shell out a bit of money, it's well worth trying it out and experiencing the next level of VR/AR.

Everything I Could've Asked for and More!

I bought the Galaxy XR primarily for PCVR gaming, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I had watched a few YouTube review videos focused specifically on VR gaming, and the common theme was that the device was not optimized for it. As of May 2026, I'm happy to report that not only is it good, it has exceeded my expectations. I'm using Virtual Desktop, which now supports foveated streaming, and I'm getting a sustained 72–90 FPS in some of the most graphically demanding games, including VR modes for Resident Evil 2, 3, 7, and Requiem, all over Wi-Fi 7. The OLED screens are absolutely the standout feature. The dynamic range is outstanding. They produce vivid colors, deep blacks, and the brightness is more than sufficient. I have the brightness set to 70%. Another thing that surprised me was how comfortable the headset is. I've worn it for two hours straight with zero discomfort or pressure on my face. I did replace the forehead pad with a third-party option from Tyco Tech. It reduces the distance between your eyes and the displays, which widens the FOV. An added benefit is that it makes the device feel lighter and improves comfort even further. I can confidently say that the Galaxy XR is more comfortable than the Quest 3. Battery life is decent as well. I'm getting about two hours of heavy use. My only two gripes are: 1. The 3D movies I bought (I've only purchased two so far) are letterboxed with black bars at the top and bottom. This takes away from the immersion and somewhat defeats the purpose of virtual screens that should adapt to the content. I'm guessing the black bars are baked into the source files. 2. I wish more streaming apps had native Android XR support. Right now, the only two with native support are YouTube and Netflix. For example, the HBO Max app is just the phone/tablet version with no 4K streaming support.
