Shop Fox D3830 Router Plane

I never knew this product existed. I was making Trivets as Christmas gifts but had a problem getting the grooves clean. I NEEDED this Router Plane then. I really haven't had a chance to use it since I got it but I'm anxious to do so.

This is a decent small router plane. It's not ready to go out of the box but I expected that the iron would need sharpening. To work properly any plane needs a sharp iron. I'll sharpen this thing hundreds of times. One more is of no concern. The machining of the casting is ok. I'll refine it a bit just because I'm fancy. The small size may be a problem for people with big hands. The benefit is that it can get into very tight spaces. The iron can be turned 180 which allows getting right into a corner - a big plus. The depth adjustment has a screwdriver slot. Use it. There's not enough space for fingers to get enough torque. I don't consider needing a screwdriver to keep the depth adjusted a concern.
