The 2nd Position adds the Mexican and American Artillery. Roads of Santa Isabel to Fronton and Tanques del Ramireno are indicated. The battle was the first major one of the Mexican-American War and was fought on May 8, 1846, on disputed ground five miles from modern-day Brownsville, Texas. A force of some 3,400 Mexican troops led by General Mariano Arista engaged a force of 2,400 United States troops led by General Zachary Taylor.
