This film works great in my living room to prevent people from coming up to the windows and looking inside. I live in the Seattle area and am not using this for the sun/UV rays, so the film is darker than I would prefer. I installed it on my bedroom window for privacy as well, but had to remove it b/c it was too dark and it was easy to remove. My pics are when there was full sun, so it's much darker when it's cloudy.
The film came with no instructions. I emailed the vendor and they responded immediately with detailed instructions which I will add here. I am a single female and installed this easily by myself using soapy water and a squeegee. It was fairly easy to trim the edges with a sharp X-Acto knife.
Here are the instructions:
1. **Gather Supplies**: Window film, spray bottle, soap, water, squeegee, utility knife, lint-free cloth, and a ruler.
2. **Clean Window**: Thoroughly clean the window with soapy water to remove dirt and debris.
3. **Measure and Cut Film**: Measure the window and cut the film slightly larger than the window dimensions.
4. **Prepare Solution**: Fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of soap.
5. **Wet Window**: Spray the soapy water solution generously on the window.
6. **Remove Backing**: Carefully peel the backing off the window film.
7. **Apply Film**: Position the film on the wet window, starting at the top and smoothing down.
8. **Adjust Position**: Slide the film into place, ensuring it covers the entire window.
9. **Spray Film**: Lightly spray the surface of the film with the soapy water solution.
10. **Remove Bubbles**: Use a squeegee to smooth out bubbles and excess water, working from the center outward.
11. **Trim Excess**: Use a utility knife and a ruler to trim any excess film along the edges of the window.
12. **Final Squeegee**: Squeegee again to ensure a smooth finish and remove remaining bubbles.
13. **Drying Time**: Allow the film to dry and adhere to the window, which can take a few days.
14. **Inspect**: Check for any remaining bubbles or imperfections and smooth them out with the squeegee.
15. **Clean Edges**: Wipe the edges of the window and film with a lint-free cloth to remove any soap residue.
16. **Secure Corners**: Press down firmly on the corners to ensure they are well-adhered.
17. **Avoid Touching**: Refrain from touching or cleaning the film for at least a week.
18. **Check Adherence**: Periodically check the film to ensure it is adhering well as it dries.
19. **Cleaning**: After the curing period, clean the window film with a non-abrasive cleaner.
20. **Enjoy**: Enjoy the benefits of your newly installed window film.
