Gods And Generals [Blu-ray]

I purchased this Blu-ray immediately after discovering that there was an extended director's cut of Gods and Generals. I am a Civil War buff and always loved the movie Gettysburg. When Gods and Generals was originally released, I was excited to watch it since it was from the same director as Gettysburg, but was rather disappointed when I purchased it and watched it. The original release seemed to drag on and on. I do enjoy a long movie, but it was really slow, boring and did not flow well. It also cut out Antietam entirely. That was such a significant battle and I could not understand why it was not included. I knew the director of Gettysburg was more capable than that but was also sorry to hear that Gods and Generals was a failure overall. Now...on to Gods and Generals Extended Directors Cut. I cannot say enough good about this edition of the movie. It was excellent and what should have been released in the first place. The movie flowed well, the plot was interesting and the battle scenes were superb. About an hour of additional footage was added and some footage from the original release was removed. All of which made this a better movie. Some of the added footage included the Battle of Antietam, John Wilkes Booth and Harrison (Harrison from the movie Gettysburg...remember?) were involved in the story as well as Abraham and Mary Lincoln. For those of you that were as disappointed with the original version of Gods and Generals as I was, GET THIS MOVIE! I am sure you will enjoy it. Hopefully one day the director will be able to obtain funding to make The Last Full Measure and complete the trilogy.
