I'd seen these kind of connectors around but had never tried them until now... they're great! Super-strong connection without crimping, very clever. My ancient heat gun covers such a large area that it's a bit challenging to get enough heat on the connector to melt the solder without also melting the wire insulation, but it can be done. I've been looking for an excuse to buy a new heat gun, though, and I'll be sure and get one with multiple nozzles so I can be a little more precise when using these connectors. And like heat-shrink tubing, a lighter also works!

I do a lot of projects around my house and in my car that require me to connect wires together. I do not like using wire nuts and electrical tape. This is a much more elegant solution. So I pickd up this 250-piece heat shrink solder connector kit. Of course it might take me 10 years to use everything, lol. I like how everything was organized. The connectors are sorted by size and color, so it's easy to grab what without digging around. I really like the solder seal design. You slide the wire in, apply heat, (I use a lighter) and the solder melts right into the connection. At the same time, the tubing shrinks down tight and seals it up. It makes a strong connection without having to mess with crimpers or separate heat shrink. It saves time and cuts down on mistakes and a possibility of a loose connection. The waterproof seal is a big deal for me. I've used these in spots where moisture is a problem(my engine block), and they hold up well. Once they're heated and sealed, you can tell it's locked in. No loose wires, no gaps. That gives me confidence. The connectors feel solid, not cheap. The tubing shrinks evenly, and the adhesive lining helps seal everything up tight. I also like that the kit includes a wide range of sizes. It covers most of the wiring jobs I will run into, from small gauge wires to thicker ones
