Review For Potenza RE040

About to install my 3rd set of these on the Spyder, so I guess I'm happy. In Puget Sound it's mostly wet and these tires performed perfectly adequately while they have good tread. Once they get near the wear-bars, it degrades quite a bit. As a lightweight convertibel sportscar, I have 0 expectations for snow driving and indeed the tires are not helpful this way. There seem to be only two options for a matched set of 185/55/15 in front and 215/45/16 in back-Bridgestone& Kumho-and nobody in my region has compliments for the Kumhos. Factory set of tires lasted 50,000 mi, second set only 25,000. Dissapointing but reality.

Review For Potenza RE040

These were stock on my 2007 Nissan 350Z. I live in Tucson, AZ so mostly hot weather driving. Put 30,000 miles on them and all 4 needed replacement. Mostly highway travel. Very spirited driver but do not abuse the tires. By farthese are the best for hot weather sticking to the road and aggresive corners. Now have Sumitomo HTR Z III on all 4 and rear are shot after 20,000 miles, fronts are like new. And am ready to replace the rear tires. If you are looking for avery agressive tire in hot weather, then these are proabably the best that I know of, but you pay a little extra for the performance. These did just fine in the Monsoon rains and never hydroplained in the water. Overall I would recommend to a friend for agressive driving. Probably would not buy again because the cost.

Review For Potenza RE040

These are a decent OEM tire. However, they are not a good replacement tire. There are many better alternatives for less money. The first set got 13,000 miles on them before Lexus/Bridgestone recalled them. So I got a new set for free. These now have 16,000 on them and are very close to being replaced. I might get 20k on them before I replace them. I have a winter set of wheels and tires, so these are for summer use only. I would not attempt to drive these in the snow.Im leaning toward the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 as a replacement.
