Great ideas for my crock pot!

My family loves slow-cooked foods, and I love how easy they are to prepare. I mostly like how the slow cooked dishes are ready when we're ready to eat, without the preparation needing to be immediately before, and all that cooking at low temperatures makes the flavors and textures both rich and delicious. That said, I think that anyone who uses their slow cooker very often is probably getting pretty tired of “beef stew” and all its variations. Which is why this cookbook is such a welcome addition to my cookbook library. It features 150 slow cooked recipes from Southern and Southeast Asia. The recipes can be quite simple, like the Vietnamese Chicken Rice, with only 6 ingredients. Yet, despite their ease of preparation, the recipes — like the many curries, including South Indian or Cambodian Vegetable Curries — are loaded with flavor. I think my family's favorites thus far include the Bhoona Chicken Curry, which includes garam (hot) masala with yogurt, and Filipino Minced Meat Curry, which transforms simple ground pork into transcendence. And I'll admit that the Burmese Beef & Potato Curry is actually pretty beef stew-ish, yet adds delicious flavors of curry powder, coriander, and cumin, and my family loves it for a nice change. I recommend this book to anyone in a hurry who loves to cook and enjoy exotic yet simple Asian curries and other delicious dishes.
