I loved this book! Loved it! Right off the bat though I would say that this book is marketed as a romance, but it isn't your traditional romance and if you go into it thinking it will be, you will likely be disappointed. I knew this beforehand though, and it didn't spoil anything for me. It actually peaked my interest, but I realize that won't be the case for everyone.
I loved that this book was both very predictable and was a lot of what I expected, yet it was completely unpredictable at the same time. It was like putting on a cozy sweater you found at the thrift store and bought because it was cute and you liked the way it felt but then you realized years later it was a designer brand. Actually, that might be a bad analogy but what the heck, I'm going to leave it.
Though I can't relate to Dannie, I am not a planner to the extent that she is, I appreciated her. I loved that she was career driven, a corporate lawyer, and had wants she was willing to work hard for, yet she never felt too stuffy, boring, or cold. Because of her friendship with Bella we got to see a caring, nurturing side that I think makes her more complete, and is something that we often don't get with career driven characters in entertainment. As for Bella, I could have used more of her. I actually think the book could have been another 50-100 pages long, but sometimes I wonder if I just think that because I am being selfish. Maybe those extra pages would actually feel too drawn out. Anyway, if I had them I would have liked them to focus a bit more on Bella. Dannie talks about her spontaneity, ease, and carefree attitude, yet I feel like we don't ever really get to explore that in Bella, but through a few sporadic past stories and Dannie just straight up saying it.
As for the plot, I loved it! Where will you be in five years, and if you get a glimpse of it can you change it? Do you want to? Is that even enough to give you the entire story? I can't go into it without giving things away, so I will just reiterate for the thousandth time that I loved it.
If you watch Grey's Anatomy and think that Christina and Meredith are the true love story of the show, I would highly recommend this book to you. If you are jumping into it thinking you'll get a quick, cute love story, maybe rethink reading it or set your mindset up for something a little different.
