Orbit 5/8 in. Brass Hose Mender

This product consists of inner hard plastic tubes on each side which are meant to slip inside a hose, some barbs which are meant to slip over the outside of a hose, and a coupling screw on each side to secure the repair. It is advertised as a product to mend 5/8" hoses. A problem is that it will probably only work for light inexpensive hoses with a small outside diameter as heavier duty hoses have multiple layers, and the barbs are blocked by the larger diameter of such hoses and will not slip over them. A redesign is needed so that it would accommodate these hoses. It is ironic that it is labeled as a "Heavy-Duty Hose Mender" but it will not work on heavy duty hoses. (It would probably not make sense to pay the $8 price to fix an inexpensive hose.) I called Husqvarna d/b/a/ Orbit to inform them of this problem and request a refund. However, they declined to do this.
