I think this race track is great for first time track for your young man. I had to put together myself for my son and it wasn't real bad to do, I wasn't good at doing anything fancy with it but the instructions are clear and the assembly was just a little bit difficult for me but I'm sure some people who have more experience with putting together a little race tracks would be great at it. this is my first son so this is my first experience also. once together it did work really well super cute and I'm going to have to find a place where it can be all the time because he just doesn't want to stop playing with it! it is very fun and exciting and I also had a lot of fun with it. the lights on it we're really cool and the fact that it counts the laps is really really fun! I would definitely recommend this track as it is perfect for my three and a half year old and he absolutely adores it so I'm so happy that I received it and I would recommend this as it came right on time also. I'm always afraid when I purchase something for my son. I don't want to tell him too early in case it doesn't come but this one came as soon as it said it was and that was next day so it was perfect. no delays at all. super fun toy, very exciting and makes Play Time extra special. he loves toy cars and such and these are the ones along with the track that he plays with the most and I'm sure he'll continue to do that
