When I was looking for a pet bed in the beginning it was one of the soft fluffy ones. Then I came across this product. It looked like a viable option for the dog staying in my room. My sister has FOUR Pits and one stays in my room and tries to push me out of my recliner. BED HOG. She has to be really close to the people she is with. A security thing, A PIT THING, AN OVERGROWN LAP DOG (with a milder attitude than that of a Chihuahua). My sister and myself put it together and put it on the floor for Bella. Wow at the room still available on this bed. It is in the living room until we get the room straightened to where the bed can come back in my room. ALL THE DOGS LOVE THE BED. IT IS 3:00 PM AND THEY HAVE GONE OUT XND ARE STILL ON THE BED. Bella would not be pleased to see them on her bed because she knowsiy is hers.

I agree with the other reviews that it doesn't seem completely claw proof, but covered with a blanket, sheet or another dog bed that isn't slippery, because sheer sheets made my dogs slip around, it works great with no issues so far and it's been a few weeks of every day use. Both my dogs sleep in it, not at the same time since one is 75 and the other is 100 pounds and they can't both fit, and my neighbor's old dog with arthritis who I watch twice a week also seems to like it, but I do feel like he wants extra padding. I put a pillow on it, since my dogs try to rest their head on the bars, and he always tries to lay on the pillow even though it's way too small for him to lay on, so I got another dog bed to put on top of it that I haven't gotten in the mail yet so it will be just as comfy as a human mattress. So if you're looking for something for older dogs or breeds at risk of developing arthritis, I'd recommend getting a thin piece of foam or another bed for it as well, but I think I'd recommend that for any bed like this without a built in pad.
