Contour Tool

It works as advertised and more. For a low budget project, its a great tool to remove old paint/rust.

Contour SCT black drum

I have a 1959 Chevy truck that I am in the process of restoring use this on the fenders that were repaired by somebody else easily took off the service rushed and used it to remove body filler that was over a quarter inch thick. It would grind down the body filler but I started using a hammer chisel to knock off the big chunks to try to save the wheel from wearing out

It worked when nothing else did!

So far so good! I've only used it for about 15 minutes of work, but it has worked well removing the rubbery/tar-like substance my floorboards are covered in. I've tried cupped wire wheels, 40-grit flap disks, and DA Sanders, all with very little success. I've tried an abrasive wheel from the big orange store on my 4-1/2 grinder but it got clogged up quickly and wore away very quickly. Abrasive blasting was mostly ineffective because it took a ton of media and media just bounced off of the coating. I figured I'd give this a shot since it has a larger contact surface and larger overall surface area. Without applying much more pressure than the weight of the SCT, I got very good results and no noticeable wear to the drum. It did gum up a little, but not nearly as bad as the other products. Overall I am pleased with the performance of this drum coupled with my new SCT. The thing that makes this work so well is also the thing that makes it hard to use in some regards. It is too big to fit in tight spaces, and wont get tight on sharp ridges and inside corners. Since that is the only con I've identified, I can't complain. Eastwood offers the same drum in a narrow version, so with the adapters, it should be able to solve that problem for only a marginal additional cost.
