I knew from when I first tried to move the box, that this was a heavy duty chair. It definitely wasn't light! As it states, it is mostly put together. That means you're not going to have to screw in every single slat in the back, bottom and leg rest. You only have to drill together the back, seat, arm rests, leg rest (ottoman) and cup holders. I would highly recommend having a drill on hand with the appropriate hex (Allen) bit. I had 3/16 and 1/4. The latter was too large, but 3/16 worked, even though it was a little wiggly. Nothing stripped or skipped. Whew! I would recommend taking out all of the bolts and nuts and washers and laying them out. This way you won't need to cut them out of the package as you need them. Mine looked like they weren't lined up correctly when put on there, so it was a minor inconvenience. I was able to assemble without really breaking a sweat thanks to the drill and a big fan. Two people could make it a little easier, but I did it by myself without much frustration and a little balancing. My only minor pet peeve is that some of the bolts are a little longer than they need to be. I would cut a couple of pairs off to look extra neat. But they're on the rear and underside, so it's not important. Everything goes together snug. No modifications are needed to make it all work properly. As for the chair itself, I'm sitting on it right now. It's really quite comfortable! Note that the back doesn't adjust, but the ottoman does retract. Cupholders also go in and out on the sides. The material is smooth and it makes me just want to pet it. It is quite sturdy! I expect it to last for a very long time. The material seems to be the same that is used to build the decks that last for a lifetime. No rotting wood! Also that means that the cheap plastic ones that keep cracking every year won't have to be purchased anymore, and this will pay for itself eventually. The only downside is that it's heavier, but that's what you get with quality. It's a lot more roomy with them too, and my kids should be able to take a break on my lap. Eventually, I'll have to order at least one more for when my kids steal it and I want to sit down.
