The top is super soft and the bottom is firm, great material that stays out on my hardwood floors and doesn't slide across the floor with kids running through the house lol. Exactly what I needed for under my metal bed frame to keep from scratching my new floors, this rug is perfect , it thin and so soft on the top surface, perfectly stitched ,the rug arrived in a box inside a plastic bag well kept ; the color is spot on ; the instructions say to take out and leave out to un wrinkle but honestly I smoothed it out easily with my hands right away ; it was a lil bigger than I had expected but that's just probably me cuz I'm not great with measuring stuff; all in all it is great material and worth the money I would buy again
