Swanson R-Fraction Alpha Lipoic Acid is a step above traditional alpha lipoic acid supplements. Conventional alpha lipoic acid supplements feature a 50-50 racemic blend of R and S isomers, but the R isomer is the only form that occurs in the human body, and it's the form responsible for most of alpha lipoic acid's beneficial effects. However, efforts to make an effective supplement containing only the R form have always been hampered by stability problems - until now. This form achieves maximum R-alpha lipoic acid concentrations in plasma after 30 minutes that are up to 8-10 times greater than those reached by regular (racemic) alpha lipoic acid supplements.

A supplement that has decent research
I still use regular ALA but after a bit of research I have decided to supplement it with the R-faction version. Once again if you may not feel anything from taking it but early research shows a variety of possible long term benefits that have been proven through research. What it ultimately may do for you one can not say but it has been shown to help a variety of issues.

One of THE BEST Supplements Available

Best Alpha Lipoic Acid value
I had previously been using one of the lower potencies of Swanson Alpha Lipoic Acid, but wanted to go to a higher level of protection. I tried the 50mg "R" fraction (SWU251) and found that I began feeling noticeably more comfortable; as if I had gained strength. Later on, I decided to try the Ultra High Potency 600mg type, just to see what kind of difference it made. However, I found it a little too strong for my particular body. So I'll be going back to the 50mg "R" fraction as my preferred choice.
